BEER

We specialize in beers using the local botanicals from the hills and farms of Ojai . Our beers rotate often and therefore we do not keep a list of what’s on tap currently, as we sell out and rotate quickly. Here's a list of some of the things that are often on tap and get made at least once every year.

Pixie
White Wheat Ale with Pixie Tangerine Zest & Marmalade, Indian Coriander, and Chamomile, rolled oats, and raw white wheat. Bittering provided by Bravo Hops. Medium Light Body, Round Mouthfeel, Mild balanced bitterness that gives way to slight sweetness.
6.5% ABV
Tasting notes include: apple candy, citrus blossom, orange citrus, vanilla.

Sugar Bush
Hop forward Pale Ale with Wild Sumac. Anybody who wants an IPA will enjoy this beer. It is basically an IPA but slightly less bitter, and with the addition of lemony sumac berries. We buy the sumac from a foraging supplier. Sugar Bush is the name of the Sumac that grows locally here in Ojai. We have a baby Sugar Bush Sumac growing by the telephone pole next to the patio fence. We use all American Hops in this and all of our beers. The hops in this beer are Warrior, Simcoe, and Mosaic. Light body, Dry Finish.
6.8% ABV
Tasting notes include: passion fruit, yellow citrus, bitter herbs, clove, caramel and apricot.

Cali Bock
Hop forward Hybrid Lager. Combination of California Common Lager and Helles Bock Lager. Clean medium bodied, with a higher alcohol content than most lagers.
6.3% ABV
Tasting notes include: Caramel, Graham Cracker, toast, sweet herbs.

Ranchero
Mexicali Lager. Traditional Amber Mexican Lager using California Common lager yeast, and Pacific Crest Noble Hops. Clean, dry, finish with light malty sweetness and toasted grain finish.
5% ABV
Tasting notes include: wheat bread crust, and minty herbs.

JFB
Pre Prohibition style American Lager with American Sweet Corn. People who want a traditional American beer will love this. Clean balanced bitterness. JFB stands for “Just Fucking Beer.” This was the first beer we made for OVB. Corn is a singular indigenous grain in America, and we think makes a truly American Lager.
5% ABV
Tasting notes include: cereal grain, sweet corn, biscuit.

New Moon
Wild Oat Stout, brewed with Local raw oat and wheat straw. Smooth medium bodied black Ale, with a medium dry finish and mild carbonation.
8% ABV
Tasting notes include: Chocolate, Coffee, graham cracker, hay.

Arbolada
Black Lager or “schwarzbier” brewed for a very light body so that it can be drunk in hot weather, and infused with whole Mexican Vanilla beans for a slight creaminess. This beer is named after the shady oak stand in the northwest of the Ojai Valley. Mexican Vanilla is currently worth more than silver by the ounce.
5.8% ABV
Tasting notes include: vanilla, chocolate, coffee, Cream Soda.

East End
Belgian Stong Golden Ale infused with Prickly Pear and Hibiscus. People who say they aren’t beer drinkers tend to enjoy this beer. This beer is not a sour, it is tart because of the hibiscus, but people looking for a sour may like this beer. Medium body with dry finish, and just enough sweetness to highlight the prickly pears.
7.2% ABV
Tasting notes include: pear, melon, banana, grape, Jamaica hibiscus.

Accidental Belgian
Belgian Blonde Ale that we accidentally created when we mutated a lager yeast during a temperature experiment, creating classic Belgian beer flavors. Most likely the same thing that happened in the classical brewing of Belgian Strongs in monastic Abbeys. 
7.5% ABV
Tasting notes include: Toast, sweet herbs, banana, black pepper, clove.

Sacred Belgian
Belgian Blonde Ale cold infused with wild Sage brush (artemisia californica). Sage brush is a soft bristly plant that grows in every area of Ojai, mostly on hill sides, and at road sides. It is the sweet herb smell you get on the air when it rains. It has a sweet scent and astringent flavor.
7.5% ABV
Tasting notes include: Toast, sage brush trails, banana, black pepper, clove.

Chaparral
Amber Ale ( close to ESB) brewed with wild foraged black sage, white sage, and purple sage. the sage flavor is subtle on purpose to make it highly drinkable without being overwhelming. The sage is mostly in the nose because of this, and provides a slightly sour herb base to the beer. All of the sage is foraged off the Etchart Ranch property where we have been seceding and cultivating it for years. We’ve also planted all of these sages in the front planter directly in front of the tap room between the street and fence. Bittered with Noble Hops.
6% ABV
Tasting Notes include: sweet sage, graham cracker, black tea, grass.

White Gruit
Traditional Pre Purity Law Ale brewed with wheat, Honey, Lemon, Yarrow and Mugwort. This beer is completely hopless, relying on the yarrow and mugwort for a balanced bitterness. Great hot summer crusher.
6% ABV
Tasting notes include: lemon zest, warm spices, toasted grain.

Grasslands
Alternative grain ale, brewed with White Sorghum and Brown Rice. Infused with local lemon grass. Completely  Naturally Gluten Free. Balanced bitterness from Nobel hops. Gold Medal winning beer at California Invitation Commercial Beer Competition.
6% ABV
Tasting notes include: Marshmallow, Lemon Grass, Toasted Oat Cereal.

Dos Cabrones
Classic dopplebock, brewed for medium body, aged in strawberry brandy barrels for 6 months. Limited yearly release. Quick to sell out.
8% ABV
Tasting notes include: graham cracker, toffee, strawberry/ red berries, oak, vanilla, cocoa. 

Bruja
Belgian Imperial Barrel Aged Stout, brewed with Mexican Canella (cinnamon), raw cocoa, and Mexican Vanilla Bean. Aged 2 years in white Oak. Extremely Limited, and sells out quickly.
13.5% ABV
Tasting notes include: coca, cinnamon, caramel, coffee, vanilla.

SIDE STREET WINE

In a small town amongst the mountains and vines. We don’t seek to dominate or conquer but coexist with the land in the gentle embrace, and craft wines that capture the spirit of the Ojai Valley.

OV Rosé
A 50/50 blend of Syrah & Grenache with a splash of Malvasyia from Santa Barbara County. Very light blush, balanced acid, bright finish provencal style Rosé. ABV 12%

DÉCROISSANCE (Degrowth) - Piquette Sparkling Orange Wine
“A countercultural quest for a careful use of nature's bounty.” Made from recovered grape skins and stems, after pressing, to make a low alcohol wine, this method does not let any part of the harvest go to waste. ABV 7%

LOVE / HATE - Sauvignon Blanc
This wine is textured and angular, with a grassy vivacity that speaks to its Californian roots. It offers a distinct Sauvignon Blanc experience, balancing a fresh and herbaceous bouquet with a structured, almost geometric palate. ABV 13%

MAGIE BLANCHE - Sparkling Grenache Blanc
An exquisite ensemble of hedonistic pleasures and velvety textures, casting an unforgettable spell of indulgence upon the senses. ABV 13.5%

SINGULARITY - Syrah
An improbable interplay of fruity, mineral and animal under a lean and poised tannic structure. Each sip brings a deep, resonant earthiness, interwoven with a bold spiciness that reflects its daring character. ABV 13%

LUNÉ - Grenache Noir
"Luné" embodies the dynamic spirit of Grenache, now captured in the essence of Ojai's celestial glow. The palate is a harmonious medley of robust berry flavors and a powerful spiciness, reflecting the vibrant and spirited character of the region. ABV 14.5%

ANARCHY - Sparkling Rosé In every bubble, a Californian defiance: Reimagining a bubbly style with a raw, spirited essence of nature’s variety, and an impulse to push back against the norm. Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Barbera & Pinot Noir. ABV 12%

LIBERTÉ- Mourvèdre
“To be free is to rise above the limitations of one’s own thinking.” This wine offers a profound exploration of flavors, where earthy depths mingle with a bold spice palette, evoking the intellectual vigor of an era defined by discovery and reason. ABV 14%

NO MIND- Pinot Noir
“Sip in silence, for in the absence of thought, we find our essence”. A cool coastal contrast between deep fruitiness and savory musky tones. This wine is a subtle dance of complexity and simplicity, with layered earthy notes harmoniously intertwined with delicate fruit and spice. ABV 14.%
